OUR BELIEFS
After many years of breeding we have seen a lot of nice dogs and certainly a lot of not so nice dogs, breeders who rely on show results and a piece of paper to decide whether to breed or not to breed, and regardless of whether the temperament is good bad or otherwise repeat the mistakes generation after generation.
Here at Wesenhund this is not the case, we honestly believe if the animal can not contribute to the betterment of the dog world then the dog should not under any circumstances be bred from.
Our show dogs were successful, but unlike a lot, have good temperament, we are very fortunate to have imported a bitch years ago that to this day her bloodlines still produce good character.
More importantly our working dogs are exactly that WORKING DOGS in that we train and compete with our dogs, no excuses just a lot of hard work. Our foundation working bitch Ash was exactly what we look for in a breeding animal, she was titled, she had a rock solid temperament ,she was sound not only with hips and elbows but in the mind as well, she was completely safe with children and adults alike, and was not raised with small children, this didn't matter, she was completely trustworthy, but put her on the competition field and she excelled, her tracking was a pleasure to watch, her obedience was always happy and upbeat and her protection work was strong and reliable.
Our pups are raised with a lot of handling, cuddles and love but also with plenty of stimulation, for the first few weeks they sleep and eat but also undergo mental stimulation until 17 days, they also have a sound CD playing with lots of noises they will come into contact with as they grow into adults.
By 3 weeks they are out of the whelping box and have plenty of room to move around, by 4 weeks they spend their days outside learning what it is to be a little dog, a massive play area, right next to the house, so they can come inside and play, they have plenty of toys to stimulate their interests, tunnels, dog walks, mini A frames, places to hide to ambush their litter mates, they also have interaction with all of our other older dogs, so right from an early age they learn how to be part of a pack and understand alpha rules.
By 5 weeks we start tracking imprinting, bite imprinting and basic engagement procedures. At this age working pups are like little sponges, and we believe the more handling we do the easier they will adjust to their new homes.
Then the big day 8 weeks they are off to their new homes, where they will enjoy their new owners, the new owners will of course get a well rounded pup, they can be assured that the breeding of their pup was done with a lot of thought, and making sure they ideal mate for the female is achieved, not just our own dog, and when they start their training they will realize how important it is to start with the correct product.
Finally for any reason in the dogs life if the owner can no longer look after the dog, we have and will always have our babies back to find them the best homes available, we dont stop loving our babies when they leave us, it makes us happy to see photos and hear how happy the new owners are.
